Please note our Head of Talent & Development role is a hybrid position with a blend of home working and time spent at our Head Office in Hull. We are open to discussing how this hybrid pattern will work best for you, but due to the importance of this role, we will require some sort of weekly presence at our Head Office.
Key responsibilities include:
Leadership:
- Leading our Talent & Development (T&D) team, made up of 5 FTE whilst contributing as part of our People & Culture leadership team
- Defining and executing a T&D strategy aligned with Arco’s strategic plan and business goals
- Acting as a key partner to senior leadership to align T&D strategies with business priorities
- Managing the T&D budget effectively, including external vendor relationships related to T&D activity
Talent Acquisition & Management:
- Developing and implementing Arco’s talent strategy to attract, select, develop, and retain top talent
- Building and implementing initiatives to improve employee retention and internal mobility
- Leading the development of employer branding to position Arco as a preferred employer
- Overseeing talent planning processes, talent reviews and 360 assessments to create a robust talent pipeline
- Collaborating with leaders to create career development pathways and strategic workforce plans
Learning and Development (L&D):
- Developing and delivering comprehensive L&D programs including sales capability, expertise and leadership
- Ensuring employees at all levels have access to development opportunities to maximise their potential
- Implementing initiatives to address skills gaps and future needs, apprenticeships and apprenticeship learning
- Designing and implementing leadership development initiatives for all levels of management
- Overseeing employee onboarding and continuous professional development programs
Employee Engagement:
- Leading on the creation of an end-to-end engagement plan including listening, measurement and action planning
- Implementing strategies to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction as well as designing and delivering initiatives
Performance and Culture
- Creating a fit for purpose performance solution for all areas of Arco, whilst partnering with senior leaders to drive a culture of performance and accountability
- Using data insights to identify and address organisational development opportunities
- Championing our DE&I strategy and ensuring it is applied across all areas of responsibility
Reporting, Insights & Governance:
- Utilising data to drive decision-making around talent trends, workforce planning, and learning effectiveness
- Reporting on T&D KPIs and leveraging insights to continuously refine and improve strategies
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards

The ideal Head of Talent & Development will be/have:
- Proven experience in a Senior Talent & Learning role
- Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving abilities
- A track record of successfully developing and implementing Talent & L&D strategies including Talent Acquisition with proven organisational benefits and ROI
- Expertise in designing and delivering leadership development with strong knowledge of talent management frameworks and practices
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Qualified in several profiling tools
- Coaching and mentoring skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office systems knowledge and skills inc. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Excellent leadership and influencing skills, as well as change management experience
