Our Software Engineer is a full time position and available to fully remote or hybrid workers. If you are looking to work hybridly, our head office is based in Hull.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing quality and appropriate technical solutions to satisfy business requirements
- Operating within a technical change team utilising Agile methodologies
- Ensuring unit testing is carried out and assisting where required with system integration and user acceptance testing by the business
- Demonstrating ownership of your changes through all relevant stages through to final release and providing estimates stating degree of confidence
- Gaining an understanding of business context through change colleagues and business users
- Contributing relevant technical knowledge to solution design
- Ensuring documentation is completed and stored in accordance with department processes
- Up-skilling co-workers through knowledge transfer, documentation and coaching, assisting with training where required to ensure system acceptance
- Providing support to the department IT service desk team within agreed guidelines
- Providing a second-tier support to help resolve technical issues within agreed guidelines
- Developing productive working relationships with key business staff, and contributing to improvements in team ways of working
- Keeping up to date with latest technologies and analytical techniques

The ideal Software Engineer will be/have:
- A degree in computer science or similar, or demonstrable skills and experience in developing business applications
- Strong foundation knowledge of object-oriented programming and best practice software design
- Knowledge or experience of Agile and Waterfall project methodologies
- Strong ABAP skills
- SAP ERP configuration experience and deeper knowledge of at least one ERP Module (SD, MM)
- Preference for knowledge in SAP Cloud for Customer configuration and development
- Preference for some knowledge and experience of some or all the following: HTML, CSS, Java, Javascript, Database design
- Preference for some knowledge of Rest and GraphQL API principles
- Preference for some experience developing and maintaining integrations between SAP systems, SAP cloud environments and other external systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Experience of workload management tools such as JIRA is advantageous
