We’re on the hunt for an experienced and process-driven Payroll Advisor to assist with the full end-to-end processing of multiple payrolls with accuracy, efficiency, and integrity. You’ll collaborate closely with HR and Finance, maintain flawless records, and provide expert guidance to colleagues at all levels — all while handling sensitive queries with professionalism and discretion.
The Payroll Advisor position is a hybrid role, with 2 days based from our Head Office in Hull, and the rest of the week working from home.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing end-to-end Arco payrolls accurately and on time, including calculations for salaries, bonuses, commissions, benefits, pensions, and statutory deductions
- Maintaining accurate payroll records and employee data within payroll systems
- Supporting our Payroll Administrator and acting as a point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing timely and effective support to employees and management, including more complex queries
- Collaborating with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless integration of data and resolve discrepancies
- Preparing and submitting payroll reports and reconciliations as required by internal stakeholders and external authorities (3 tax references & 5 payrolls (inc. IR35)
- Communicating well at all levels when explaining calculations relating to pay for managers, individuals and pensioners as well as external customers, using discretion when providing guidance and dealing with sensitive issues particularly related to pensioner payroll
- Assisting in year-end activities, including processing and submitting HMRC taxable benefits such as P11d, P46 (car) and payrolling benefits
- Supporting audits by providing relevant documentation and explanation of payroll procedures

The ideal Payroll Advisor will be/have:
- Proven experience in payroll administration, preferably in a mid to large-sized organisation
- A strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards including BIK calculations and how they impact pay
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure including the initiative to investigate problems and provide suitable solutions
- Ability to manage workload to meet operational requirements
Desirable
- Business Objects & iTrent system experience
- Relevant payroll or finance qualifications such as CIPP, FPC or CPP
